Falling Behind

The last couple of weekends have been very fun. Last weekend we travelled to Burley to celebrate my 10 year class reunion and to attend the Cassia County Fair. The reunion was very good the attendance was very high and it was good to see freinds that I hadn't seen since shortly after graduation. Everyone seems to be doing well and staying in good shape. THEre were only a few like myself who seemed to have added a few pounds and only a few that had lost a noticeable amount of hair. Friday was dinner at Maury's Stake house and Saturday was a family picnic at storybook park. Saturday afternoon we attended the fair with Mom. We ate some fair food and Bridgelynn rode the Merry-Go-Round at the carnival. Sunday we went to church with Mom and said goodbye to Dani who moved to Logan on Monday to start her life as a USU Aggie.

This weekend my work had a summer party at Nat SOO PAh. It was fune there was some really good BBQ and the girls enjoyed the swimming pool. Unfortunately the turnout was petty small with onlyfive or six families showing up. At least they did something this year the prior two summers have had no work parties. Hopefully we can use this party as a springboard for future events with more people coming. Bridgelynn is getting better at going under water in the pool but is still not showing much interest in practicing to swim. McKinzie also seems to go under water well, but I do need to remember to shave my chest before swimming with McKinzie becuase she kept using it as a handle and I spent most of the time with her in pain.

There was one agravating moment this week, and that was getting called to Jury Duty in Boise. I don't live in Boise anymore, so I am disqualified from surving, but the only proof of residence they accept is a driver's license or voters registration from Jerome. My driver's license doesn't expire until next year and I have never in my life registered to vote and wasn't planning to this year, but it looks like I am either going to register to vote or renew my license a year early. I haven't decided which option to follow yet. For those of you who wonder why I haven't voted in my 11 years of elligibility it is becuase I live in Idaho where republicans always win at the state and federal level and so far the only locality I have ever cared about is Burley and I have never ben an ellgible voter in that county. Who knows maybe if I live in Jerome long enough I may take a larger role in determing who leads the town.

Family Reunion

Last week was an eventful week for my girls and I. We went to the annual Powell Family reunion up at Thompson Flat which is between Pomerrelle and Lake Cleveland. We were there from Thursday until Saturday afternoon and we only left our camp ground one time to briefly drive to the top and the mountain and to stop by Lake Cleveland. Most of the time we spent hanging around the camground cathcing up with family and playing games. I spent a large prtion of the day Friday helping my uncle dig a hole and wrap a pig and then bury it in the hole to cook for dinner. Unfortunately we rushed the fire a little bit and the pig wasn't done by dinner time. So we rewrapped the pig and redid the fire and ate him for lunch one Saturday. It was my first time seeing a pig cooked this way and it was pretty good.

Saturday evening we went to my Dad's 50th birthday party down at the boat docks on the river. Cherie, Bridgelynn and I went out on the boat and even got on an intertube for a little bit. It was Bridgelynn's first time on a boat and on an innertube. She loved it! She was little nervous at first but once she got used to it she had a fun time.

Stay tuned I will add pictures in a little bit.

Greetings

Hello Everybody,

I'm not sure how successful this blog will be but something my 10 year class reunion coming up has me feeling a bit nostalgic and I'm temporarily in the mood to try my creative talents on the web. I am also starting to feel like I am getting boring so hopefully this blog will give me motivation to try new things. Most likely this blog will be taken over by Cherie and I will become a passive bystander like I noticed most of my male friends seem to be on their family blogs.

Just a quick update on my family. Cherie and I are have been living in Jerome for the last two years (as a Burley grad I must say I am not proud to be living north of the river but at least it is not Minico). I work in Twin Falls as a CPA at a local accounting firm. I enjoy helping others run their business becuase so far I have not been creative enough to create my own business. Cherie stays home and chases after Bridgelynn 3 and McKinzie 1 their birthdays are two days apart. For those of you wondering where the name Bridgelynn came from I thought the name Bridge Adams for a boy sounded pretty good and masculine but we had a girl so we added the lynn. I am sure she will hate us for it later.

Cherie also stays busy serving as second counselor in the Primary Presidency and I have recently been released from Young Men's president and am now the Financial secratary. Considering that I spend all dayat work counting money it was inevitable that I would be asked to count it on Sunday as well. I do miss the young men but considering I only had one priest and no money to do anything with anyways I wasn't too disappointed to leave.

Ten years after graduating High School I am still in school. I am taking my final class this fall to complete my Master's in Accountancy with emphasis on Taxation degree. This will be my third degree. I got two bachelor's degrees and I was two classes shy of a third one before I came to my senses and decided the Master's would be more valuable. I do take great pride of being a Boise State Alum. Just like I take great pride in being a Burley Bobcat but the difference is that Boise State has the best football team in the area. I doubt there are more than a very tiny handful of my friends whose football team has even beaten BSU in the last ten years and unless they went to WSU, Boston College, Georgia, or Washington I know they don't have a winning record against BSU. There will probably be several entries where I brag somemore about the football team as the season goes on. The scary thing is after my mission to Russia I actually tried to transfer to BYU. Fortunately they denied me and my fall Saturday's have been blissful ever since. Including BSUs 2-o record over BYU in football and 2-1 record over BYU in recent years. For those of you who take the stance that education is more important than sports that is only true if you want to get a good job in a big city. Since my goal was to get a job in the Magic Valley, I can't think of a single company in the valley that cares where you went to school as long as you get a degree, and can show that you know what you are doing, so the quality of the education was low on my priority list.

Well this post has been going on long enough but I tend to be long winded so when I do post they will most likely be long so get used to it.
